Ingredients

  • Spring onions 1 bunch, chopped
  • ½ cup or 100 grams moong dal, soaked in water

    • Spices:

  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp Cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • A pinch of asafoetida or hing
  • Salt to taste

    Directions

    Step 1

  • In a pan (kadhai), add 2 tbsp oil and let it heat up
  • add mustard & cumin seeds & let them sizzle
  • add the asafoetida
  • add the chopped spring onion and stir
  • add the turmeric powder and red chilli powder

    • Step 2

  • mix well and let the mixture cook on low to medium heat
  • add the moong dal (drain the water before adding the dal)
  • add salt to taste
  • Let it cook for a few minutes till the dal is also cooked – & our paticha kanda sabzi is ready!
